Publishing Ethical Policy

The World Review of Research and Innovation (WRRI) applies internationally accepted standards of research integrity. Authors are expected to report what they did and what they found truthfully. Because misconduct corrupts the scholarly record and misleads other researchers, WRRI treats it seriously at every stage of publication.

Honest Research

Inventing data, altering data, reporting results selectively in order to mislead, or presenting other people's data or findings as one's own are all unethical. Researchers should keep accurate records of their work so that it can be checked, and should retain their data for a reasonable time after publication and share it on reasonable request, unless confidentiality, intellectual-property or similar considerations prevent it.

Plagiarism and Self-Plagiarism

Using another author's words or ideas without acknowledgement (plagiarism), and recycling one's own published text or results in near-identical papers (self-plagiarism), are prohibited. Authors must credit the work of others and cite the sources that informed their study.

Submitting the same findings to more than one journal is unacceptable, except for review articles that properly cite the original studies. Authors must make sure that what they present as new is genuinely their own.

Simultaneous Submission

A paper under consideration by WRRI may not be under consideration by any other journal. If parallel submission is detected, the paper will be withdrawn.

Correcting the Record

Authors who find a significant error in their published work must tell the editors promptly and help correct it. WRRI retracts an article when:

  • its findings are shown to be unreliable, whether because of misconduct such as fabrication or because of honest error such as a calculation mistake;
  • it repeats findings already published elsewhere without proper citation or permission;
  • it contains plagiarism; or
  • it reports unethical research.

WRRI issues a correction when:

  • part of an otherwise sound article is found to be inaccurate, usually through honest error; or
  • the list of authors is incorrect, for example because a contributor who qualifies was omitted or someone who does not qualify was included.

Misconduct also includes concealing competing interests, breaking confidentiality, failing to obtain informed consent and mistreating research participants or materials. Smaller lapses that do not justify a formal investigation should still be put right.

Core Values

  • Reliability: sound design, careful analysis and responsible use of resources.
  • Honesty: transparent, fair and unbiased conduct and reporting.
  • Respect: for participants, colleagues, communities, cultural heritage and the environment.
  • Accountability: responsibility for the research from its design to its publication, including supervision and ethical oversight.

Please note: WRRI screens every submission for plagiarism and self-plagiarism, and plagiarised work will not be published.
