Guidelines for Editors

Editorial Ethics at WRRI

The editors of the World Review of Research and Innovation (WRRI) carry primary responsibility for the journal's standards. Readers trust that anything appearing in WRRI has been judged carefully and fairly, so editors are expected to apply the following principles throughout the publication process.

1. Main Duties

  • Select and publish work of high scholarly quality.
  • Uphold academic freedom within ethical and legal limits.
  • Safeguard the accuracy of the published record.
  • Meet the reasonable needs of authors and readers.
  • Ensure that ethical requirements are met and processes are transparent.
  • Publish corrections, clarifications and retractions whenever necessary.

2. Good Practice

  • Seek and respond to feedback from authors, reviewers and Board members.
  • Run a thorough, impartial, double-anonymous review process.
  • Support innovative and original research.
  • Enforce the journal's anti-plagiarism policy consistently.
  • Guide authors, especially early-career researchers, on ethical research practice.

3. The Editorial Board

  • Board members should be recognised specialists in the journal's subject areas.
  • Appointments should be for defined terms, with membership renewed as necessary.
  • New members should be informed of their duties, ethical obligations and the journal's policies.
  • The Board should meet at least once per issue cycle, i.e. twice a year.

4. Impartiality

  • Manuscripts are judged only on their academic merit.
  • Editors reply to authors promptly and keep the process transparent.
  • Authors are never treated differently because of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, political view or affiliation.
  • Editors disclose any interest that could affect their decisions.

5. Confidentiality

  • Information about manuscripts and reviews is kept confidential.
  • Nothing about a submission is disclosed beyond those involved in handling it.
  • Accepted papers are not publicised before publication without the authors' agreement.
  • The privacy of research participants is respected.

6. Style and Presentation

  • The journal publishes clear instructions on formatting and referencing.
  • WRRI uses the APA style (7th edition), and this is stated in the Author Guidelines.

7. Peer Review

  • All research papers receive rigorous double-anonymous review.
  • Wherever possible, at least one reviewer works outside the author's country.
  • Reviewers are given clear instructions and a structured review form.
  • Reviews are confidential, fair and well-documented.
  • Editors confirm that authors have responded adequately to every reviewer comment.

8. Misconduct

  • Reviewers are encouraged to report suspected fabrication, plagiarism or other misconduct.
  • All submissions are checked with Turnitin or an equivalent tool.
  • Misconduct discovered after publication leads to a correction or retraction.

9. Authorship Limits

  • As a rule, an author may be principal author of only one paper in a single issue.
  • Editorial Board members may publish at most one paper per issue.
  • Only genuine contributors are credited as authors.
  • Submissions from editors or their close colleagues are handled by someone without a conflict.

10. Conflicts of Interest

  • Editors withdraw from manuscripts in which they have an interest.
  • Reviewers likewise declare their interests.
  • A documented procedure governs submissions from Board members.

11. Decisions

  • Decisions depend on scholarly value and relevance to the journal's scope.
  • Every rejection is accompanied by clear and constructive reasons.
  • Authors may appeal through a fair process.
  • A decision is changed only if an error or ethical problem comes to light.

12. Appeals and Complaints

Editors keep clear procedures for appeals, ethical concerns and complaints, so that all decisions remain fair and open to scrutiny.
