Authorship and Contribution Policy
The World Review of Research and Innovation (WRRI) expects the author list of every paper to be accurate, honest and based on real intellectual contributions.
1. Criteria for Authorship
An author is someone who has made a substantial contribution to the research and has taken an active part in writing the paper. Contributions that qualify include:
- designing or conceptualising the study;
- developing the methods;
- gathering, analysing or interpreting the data or evidence;
- providing important intellectual input;
- writing the first draft;
- revising the paper critically; and
- approving the version to be published.
Every author should be able to explain their own role and take responsibility for it.
2. Consent of All Authors
All authors must agree to the final version before it is published. Submission to WRRI is taken to mean that every named author has agreed to the submission and to the order of names.
3. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is the journal's single point of contact and is responsible for:
- obtaining every co-author's approval before submission;
- making sure author names, affiliations and contact details are correct;
- providing all required declarations;
- keeping co-authors informed of correspondence from the journal; and
- ensuring that any change to the paper or author list is agreed by all concerned.
4. Author Order
The authors decide the order of names together before submitting. WRRI does not settle disputes about order; these should be resolved among the authors or by their institutions.
5. Acknowledging Other Contributors
Those who provided technical help, data collection support, language editing, funding, supervision or general support, but who do not meet the authorship criteria, belong in the Acknowledgements rather than the author list.
6. Changes After Submission
Adding, removing or reordering authors after submission requires a clear explanation and written agreement from all authors. After acceptance or publication, such changes are made only in exceptional circumstances and may be checked further.
7. Unacceptable Practices
WRRI does not accept:
- Ghost authorship: omitting a person who meets the criteria;
- Guest authorship: listing a person who does not meet them; or
- Honorary or gift authorship: adding a person because of position, seniority or friendship.
8. Acknowledgements and Funding
People named in the Acknowledgements should agree to being named. Sources of funding, institutional support and research assistance should be declared.
9. Artificial Intelligence
An AI tool cannot be an author, because it cannot take responsibility for the work, declare interests or approve a manuscript. Authors remain responsible for any content produced with AI help and must follow the AI Policy.
10. Disputes
The journal does not normally judge disputes over contributions. It may ask for explanations or evidence, refer the matter to the authors' institutions and delay publication until the matter is resolved.
11. Responsibility of Authors
By submitting, the authors confirm that the authorship information is correct and agreed. WRRI may investigate suspected authorship misconduct and take appropriate action.
12. Statement of Contributions
WRRI may ask for a short statement of each author's contribution, which may be published with the article or kept on file.
